Interpreting one’s dream, vision, or small whisper from God requires much prayer, patience, and discernment. From this, we receive a deeper relationship, a closer walk with our Saviour, and we will never be the same.
(August 26, 2021)
After months of intense dreams, journaling daily, a chaotic night confronts me:
“Such a charming resort by the sea appears as my husband and I enter the doors labeled ‘Lobby’. Spotting my previous boss standing at the check-in counter, I surmise my trip must be work-related. Why, even the CEO of the hospital walks by! Immediately, he advises all of us that tonight we shall gather for dinner at a seafood restaurant he had heard rave reviews about and all must attend. Not surprising, my old boss places the task on my shoulders – find wherever this place is, with no name and no address, and make reservations.
Upon leaving the resort, the house chef informs me that this restaurant moved years ago and points for me to head right. As I begin my walk, the journey becomes bizarre, causing me to crouch through open windows, grab iron gate handles to enter a stranger’s lawn, and collide into as clothesline complete with wet laundry, freshly hung.Trying to fight exhaustion, I continue and stumble upon an estate sale, selling mostly trinkets and junk. But directly before me, hangs the most exquisite, emerald green gown I have ever seen! I who owns this majestic gown. (In reality, I do not have a clue who might own such a beautiful dress.) Turning the opposite direction, I walk towards the interstate, determined now to find the owner of this piece. With major congestion alongside the roads, I step onto the grass for safety.
Returning to the hotel, foreign men block my entrance as their fellow team attempts to park a huge, bottom half of a yacht.
Heading up the elevator, I phone my husband to let him know I am finally back from work. Walking down the hallway, colorful balloons with “Happy Birthday” written across, shake quietly, while tied to the adjacent room’s door handle.
Once I am in the room, I am astounded when I see my husband. He sits in a chair, wearing a green hoodie and matching green pants and the hoodie covers most of his handsome face. Never has he ever worn a hoodie! Then I see her.
Standing in front of my husband, a woman, wearing all black, propositions him. While he laughs, I rush to confront her and she vanishes!”
The symbolism:
Dreaming of a hotel symbolizes “a transition, temporary; a place to relax or receive”. Upon reviewing the word transition, the Bible speaks of individuals undergoing spiritual transformation as they begin a life dedicated to God. This resonates in my heart; as it validates my purpose, my walk towards Him.
To dream of one’s husband can mean one of two things – 1) the actual person or 2) Jesus Christ. In this particular dream, my husband joins me. Seeing your husband refers to “your happiness with him” and if he is healthy in the dream, this suggests “you will enjoy good support from him.”
Dreaming of the ocean signifies the person is “full of emotions which are deep and strong like the tides.” Another definition of the symbol, is “caution, taking care to handle emotions in a constructive manner.” My father drove us to the beaches in Florida every summer for a week of fun in the sun with a little Disneyworld thrown in. So for me the beach holds strong emotions of love and joy. (Sadly, he departed this world in November 2024 and yet, I thank my God, he suffers no more).
When seeing an old boss, it is your “psyche’s way of telling you to focus on the task at hand.” Upon reading the definition of “psyche”, one finds this simply means “your soul, mind and spirit”. Your inner being, the very soul of yourself, is giving you this advice tonight. And I must listen. Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”(NIV) It’s not going to be me!
Studying the symbol of the hospital’s CEO, I identify several things. One suggests, “a reflection of your own desire for change in a career; possibly looking for a challenge or shift in responsibilities,” and secondly, “ you need to prepare for upcoming changes, whether they be job or personal-related. This could be an opportunity for growth.”Oh how this second meaning strikes deep within me.
With my journey advancing, I am filled with excitement, with confirmation, while reading an article in www.innergrowthcoach.com, that explains “dreaming of seafood often symbolizes a deep emotional exploration or a venture into the subconscious mind, akin to diving into the ocean’s mysterious and rich depths. Such dreams could suggest a period of personal purging and emotional revelation, reflecting the dreamer’s journey towards greater self-understanding.” Dear Father, open my eyes and ears for further understanding.
Researching the meaning of a restaurant appearing, causes me to pause and reflect on the message. A restaurant “represents feelings about how easy it is being ‘served’; particular feelings or experiences in waking life you are choosing to have.” On the negative side of the symbol, a restaurant “reflects feelings about expectations for certain types of experiences to be easily given to you by others.” Am I taking my loved ones for granted? In my journey, am I overlooking people? In Matthew 25: 35-40, we learn the importance, the significance of serving, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was in prison and you came to me.Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me.” (NIV)
Dreaming of a chef represents “an aspect of yourself that is skilled, confident, talented, and experienced.” Humbly, I pray for more revelation.
The direction of “right” refers to “authority, power, the strength of man or the power of God revealed through man.” Later in the dream, I turn left which conveys “ the weakness of man; God’s strength or ability demonstrated through man’s weakness.” Psalms 103:14b comes to my mind “…He remembers that we are dust.” (ESV)
Windows in a dream reference “vision; letting the light in, having spiritual sight, an opportunity (as in an ‘open window of opportunity’). “ Since I am crouching through the window, I learn “you are protecting yourself in some way”and to remember this protection “comes at a price.” Am I still withdrawing myself from the true light I seek? May God give me strength to remove any barrier blocking my path!
Gates “appear when change is coming and opportunities are coming.” When walking through a gate, the symbol refers to “new beginnings.” Dreaming of an iron gate or metal gate signifies “you are maintaining expectations.” Is this dream substantiating my path to Him?
Reading of a clothesline presenting itself in a dream proved quite telling for me. And I must say, I have never dreamed of one before this night and still have not had one present itself again. However, the symbol denotes “you are under immense pressure to prove something to others. You may be under the impression that people around you do not have the correct perception of you.” There are some “particular personal traits or characteristics which other people do not know about.” Indeed, with my book, Grasping for Spiritual Sight, the purpose , the very reason for writing it, stems from the anointing God has placed on my life. I could not remain silent as the dreams kept pouring out while I slept, and later became prophetic. I boldly affirm God’s mighty hand moving across our lands, protecting us.
The lawn symbolizes “a period of personal growth, renewal, and stability in your life..” A healthy lawn (and it was) means “harmony and prosperity”. Also, the lawn was a luscious green and gracefully manicured. The color green, in dream symbols, shows “growth” and “prosperity”. I could not help but notice that two of the symbols referred to “prosperity”. Looking to God’s Word to guide me further, I find “the Bible tells us that God ‘gives us richly all things to enjoy’ and that He who spared not His only Son will also ‘freely give us all things. Living in poverty is no more a sign of spirituality than living in wealth. The key has to do with focus. Jesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. When we do this all the material needs will be provided. (Matthew 6:33) www.spiritofgrace.org.”
To dream of an estate sale with trinkets, suggests “ a desire to connect with the past” or “a need to let go of old memories and material possessions,” depending on the emotions felt after the dream. After awakening, I recall positive feelings towards the main segment of the dream. However, the ending gave me quite a jolt!
The symbol of a green dress on a hanger signifies “growth, renewal” and “positive changes; you are about to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.”
(dict.dreamdecoder.me) My heart leaps for joy as I comprehend the magnitude of these words. Finding my way took time and I must diligently walk carefully along this path now. Proverbs 3:6 states, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)”.
Amazingly, the color emerald green denotes “a season of victory and overcoming tribulations.” I drop to my knees in gratitude!
Walking in the dream means “freedom spiritually, being free to follow a path in your life that you may have been putting off.” I know this to ring true in my spirit. In searching for the answers to my ever-growing questions, I could wait no longer and began my own search for Christ, my way, which is the best way to find Him. Once I earnestly sought Him, delved deep into His Word, my dreams became alive. 1 John 2:6 tells us, “Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way He walked.”
Dreaming of traffic congestion implies “you may encounter challenges or obstacles that could hinder your progress or cause frustration(dict.dreamdecoder.me).” And I expect it.
Putting on the full armor of God each morning, I stand.
To have a dream of foreign men shows “ news, changes that are coming from a new or unfamiliar place (dict.dreamdecoder.me).” A large ship can imply “that you will focus on how you can develop yourself in life.” Once more, my dream shows me the importance of staying focused. I must press forward and faint not.
The phone call in my dream offers important advice for me as I research the meaning, for it states, “It is telling you to listen more to others, without getting defensive, and listen to others’ opinions before your own.” Being in communication professions for over seventeen years, I always felt I held great listening skills and this definition hit me hard because one thing I know is to listen! Yet, I had faltered. I must return to the Word spoken in James 1:19, “ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
How interesting to find that the balloon filled with helium indicates “you will look back on your childhood” and “your situation will elevate”. As my favorite pastor often explains to the congregation, “Go back to where you laid it down.”
After entering our hotel room, the color green shines before me again, when I see my husband wearing a green hoodie and matching sweatpants. His hoodie/coat refers to “mantle, anointing.” We learn of spiritual gifts and abilities in Paul’s words, “ Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills (ESV).”
Have you found your purpose?
When you hear someone laughing, this means “you will show evidence of good knowledge.” I must continue forth with my study and research, for the season feels ripe for harvest.
Dreaming of a harlot/prostitute denotes “a demon; spiritual apostasy” and this verse comes to my mind, “Take heed, brethren , lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God,” Hebrews 3: 12 (KJV). I knew this woman represented a demon because she vanished in thin air!

““He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new! Then He said, Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelations 21:4-5, (NIV)
